República del Cacao is an Ecuadorian luxury chocolate brand. The lighting for its stores was designed to evoke a heightened experience that sparks the senses just like the product it displays. The lighting scheme is devised to create patterns of light and shadow that reveal texture  and highlight the richness of the natural materials of the interior creating a refined and elegant design.

 

The main character of the space besides the delicious product, is the composition of woven fixtures crafted by artisan hands of Ecuador, that contrasts the dynamic design of the bamboo ceiling and its jungle of leaves. The soft light from these woven lamps creates an attractive focal point in the center of the space that guides the user towards the product.

Direct spots of light are used to highlight each shelf to improve visibility, create attraction and maximize sales of the product on display. In addition, indirect light in the perimeter accent the walls that present promotional and informative material about the brand.

 

The project included the lighting design for the store at Mall El Jardín in Quito. Project designed by ValDesignLab from its concept, planning and coordination of installation.
