A sensory room is a space created for children to learn through their five senses with interactive elements including light, water, sounds, textures, and color.

 

The design of the sensory room for Paraiso Infantil, a kindergarden in Quito, was inspired by a carnival scene where light and color are the main characters. This room is a stimulating environment where children can have fun, as well as learn and develop fine and gross motor skills, hand to eye coordination and color/shape recognition. Each element in the room is interactive and versatile, so kids can experience different scenes on each visit.

 

The space has a light tunnel that bathes in color as you walk through it. It includes a theater of light that allows creating stories and shapes with shadows. A bubble-lit panel that changes color creating a relaxing experience. Other elements such as an interactive LED magnetic wall, and a light table allow children to learn colors and shapes while playing with light.
